“Over
Half Of The World’s Older Persons Live In Asia, And Most Will Be
In Developing Countries”.
What
are the challenges that ASEAN countries face from a social, economic
and political perspective? What are the factors that will influence
public policies and infrastructure planning? What are the changes
that will have to be made to cater to the changing needs of this
ageing population?
The
5th ASEAN Gerontology Course opens the doors to
discussion and a thorough investigation of the policies, programmes
and services that have been implemented. The 12-day course is led by
Professor Joseph Troisi, Deputy Director of The International
Institute on Ageing, United Nations, Malta (INIA) and a team of
experts in the field of ageing. They will share their
knowledge and lead the discussion on a wide range of topics.
This
Course discusses the impact and effectiveness of policies and
programmes and encourages participants to think through in real-life
case studies and examines scenarios through workshops and tutorials.
The 5th
ASEAN Gerontology Course is jointly organised by The Institute on
Ageing, United Nations, Malta (INIA) and Singapore Action Group of
Elders (SAGE).
A half day
pre-course seminar on the latest trends and needs of the ageing
population will held on the 5th December 2004 from 2.00pm to 6.00pm.
